MDF partners with TAMPEI for Citywide Strategy in Community Upgrading Project

MDF works with Technical Assistance Movement for People and Environment (TAMPEI) for the Citywide Strategy in Community Upgrading project. MDF serves as the community partner NGO for the project in Muntinlupa.

Citywide strategy is an alternative solution to informal settlement upgrading which entails mapping all the informal settlements within a city, developing a citywide shelter development plan, and systematically allocating resources to priority informal settlements. It is a demand-driven approach where communities drive the settlement upgrading planning and implementation process, rather than a supply-driven approach that focuses on mass construction of houses. This program is being supported by the World Bank.

To date, the Muntinlupa team has mapped and profiled 79 communities in 4 barangays of District 2. Negotiations are under way with the Muntinlupa City Government for the mapping of the remaining barangays in the city.
